The ‘Anniviards’ used to rest with their herds in the settlement of Zinal, with its typical houses made of larch wood, before continuing their journey from the valley up to the high alpine pastures. Tourism has been part of village life in Zinal for 150 years.

Zinal is one of those places you cannot help but admire. Whether you come for a relaxing family holiday or to conquer its mountains, ski pistes or unspoilt slopes, your verdict will be the same: Zinal is truly invigorating ! An abundance of nature, infinite sporting opportunities, historical sights, children’s activities … and above all, the mountains on your doorstep, for a holiday that has a real feeling of purity.

Zinal Val d’Anniviers

zinal village switzerland

Zinal is a charming village located deep in the Val d’Anniviers. It lies at the foot of the Weisshorn which—at 4506 metres—is the fourth highest mountain in Europe. Other famous mountains nearby include Zinalrothorn and Bishorn, both approximately 4000 metres in height. And let’s not forget the Zinal Glacier whose icy interior provides the perfect backdrop for a winter stroll. The slopes are delightfully uncrowded, offer varied intermediate cruising and have a good snow record. And the resort has a richly deserved reputation for its extensive off-piste. Buses serve the other main ski areas in the valley, except the new cable car linking Zinal to the Grimentz ski area.

The Village

The picturesque Valaisian village of Zinal belongs to the municipality of Anniviers in the eponymous valley. A tour of the village reveals all of its charms. Old world houses and wooden huts in abundance, this is a truly beautiful resort. A great village to enjoy the magnificent skiing and relax.

Skiing in Zinal, Switzerland

Night Life

Zinal has the most skiing and snowboarding facilities in the area, and is also a paradise for hikers and climbers. You won’t find vibrant nightlife in Zinal but you will be able to enjoy a range of intimate restaurants and cafes. There is also an ice rink and indoor swimming pool. Apres ski is fun and there are a number of bars and restaurants with music and great atmosphere.

There are some excellent restaurants with a variety of gastronomic delights and the village has a very, very, friendly feel to it.

Small Resort, Big Area Over 220kms

The skiing, especially if you are into off-piste, is epic. With the top station at just under 3,000 metres and over 1,400 metres of vertical there is plenty of everything, and the North and East facing slopes keep their snow in good condition. What’s more the back-country terrain hardly ever gets tracked out so you can repeat descents all day long with fresh tracks each time.
